The body that governs world football removed the image that omitted Crimea from Ukrainian territory, which was considered by Kiev as an "unacceptable error".
FIFA has apologized for presenting a map during the 2026 World Cup qualifying draw that excluded Crimea from Ukraine's territory, which was criticized by Kiev as an "unacceptable error".
During last week's draw, world football's governing body showed a map of countries that cannot be placed head-to-head for geopolitical reasons, such as Spain and Gibraltar, Kosovo against Bosnia and Herzegovina or Serbia, and Ukraine and Belarus.
The map highlighted Ukraine but did not include the Crimean peninsula as part of the country.
Russia unilaterally occupied and annexed Crimea from Ukraine during its initial invasion in 2014. Most of the world condemned the action and Crimea continues to be recognized internationally as Ukrainian territory.
